AN ORDINANCE
BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SCHERTZ,
TEXAS, CANVASSING THE RETURNS AND DECLARING
THE RESULTS OF THE CITY OFFICER ELECTION HELD
IN SAID CITY ON THE 5TH DAY OF MAY, 1990,
AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, there came on to be considered the returns of
a City Council election duly and legal I y held in the City of
Schertz, Texas, on MAY 5, 1990, and
WHEREAS, this City Council has diligently inquired into
the poll lists and official election returns which were duly and
lawfully made to said City Council by the judge and clerks
holding said election; and
WHEREAS, from said returns, this City Council hereby
finds that there were cast in said election by those voter who
were resident qualified electors of the City the following votes:

WHEREAS, from the above tabulation and findings, this
City Council further finds that there were cast in said election
a total of 942 votes and that for Mayor Earl ~L Sawyer
received a plurality of votes cast; and in Councilman, Place 1

in Councilman, Place 2 Hal Baldwin
of votes cast; NOW THEREFORE,

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SCHERTZ, TEXAS;

THAT EARL vI. SAWY ER is
hereby duly elected Mayor i JOE POTEMPA is
hereby duly elected Councilman, Place 1; and
HAL BALDWIN is hereby duly elected Councilman,
Place 2, on the City Council of the City of Schertz, Texas,
pursuant to the election duly held within said City of May 5,
1990.

THAT the public importance of this measure constitutes
and creates an urgent necessity to comply with State election law
that requires this ordinance be passed and take effect as an
emergency measure, and shall take effect and be in force
immediately upon and after its passage.
