If you require special assistance or have a request for sign interpretative services or other services, please call 210-619-1030.   October 23, 2024  Schertz Historical Agenda                                Page 2  BACKGROUND This item is to approve the May 22, 2024 and September 25, 2024 SHPC meetings. No meeting was held in June and there were not enough members present for a quorum at either the July or August 2024 meetings. At the September 25 meeting there was a question about whether the May 22 meeting minutes had already been approved, so the item was tabled to the October Meeting.  Attachments May 22, 2024 Draft SHPC Minutes  September 25, 2024 Draft SHPC Minutes    October 23, 2024  Schertz Historical Agenda                                Page 3  BACKGROUND Attached are the May 2024, June 2024, July 2024, August 2024 and September 2024 Financial Reports for SHPC.   October 23, 2024  Schertz Historical Agenda                                Page 4  BACKGROUND Dr. Miguel Vazquez has submitted an application for Landmark Property designation for the Schertz-Cibolo Cemetery, which is located at 93 Bubbling Springs Road. The SHPC Policies and Procedures outlines the process for considering applications for Landmark Properties.  DESIGNATIONS OF HERITAGE NEIGHBORHOODS AND LANDMARK PROPERTIES 14.1   Authority:  Per Section 21.3.6B1 (Boards and Commissions) of the Schertz Unified Development Code (UDC) the Committee (Commission) shall have those duties and approval authorities as granted by the ordinance establishing the Committee (Commission).  14.2    Designation of Heritage Neighborhoods:  Nominations for such a designation can be made by any person or group interested in doing so using the application form in Appendix C.  14.3   A heritage neighborhood will be defined as one in which multiple properties are contained meeting the definition of such in the sections below.  There will be no legal restrictions set on any such neighborhood or individual property contained therein. The process for approval will include the following:              (a)       A majority vote of Committee members present and voting (vote to be based on the historical merits of the application presented to the Committee by the nominator)  14.4   Designation of Landmark Properties:                         (a)       Landmark:  A “Landmark Property” is defined as any property that presents itself as a unique feature of the City of Schertz or its Extra Territorial Jurisdiction (ETJ) landscape (community) due to either its nostalgic, aesthetic, architectural, or symbolic attributes and which could or will have an enduring impact on the community’s cultural identity.               (b)       There will be no legal restrictions placed on any such properties.             (c)        A property will be granted selection as a named landmark property by means of nomination for such status by any person or group interested in doing so using the application form in Appendix C.   Attachments application  Background  October 23, 2024  Schertz Historical Agenda                                Page 5  Schertz Historic Preservation Committee Financial Report as of September 30, 2024 FY 2023-24 Revenue September 2024 Total Sale of Merchandise $45.00 $215.00 Misc/Car Show $0.00 -$95.29 Total $0.00 $74.71 September 2024 Total Budget $11,750.00 Expenditures $1,437.81 $4,121.69 Encumbered-Storage Fees $0.00 Remaining $7,621.31 Cash in Bank as of September 30, 2024: $25,430.49 Expenditures include 1. $1,100.00 at Dragonfly Apparel for Shirts. 2. $161.06 at Amazon and Signerama for Uniforms 3. $90.00 at Brenner Printing 4. $26.76 at Hobby Lobby 5. $55.99 at Michael’s
