Financial Matters
Financial Report
The committee reviewed financial statements for May 2025, focusing on storage fees and
book sales. Brian pointed out that storage fees were not factored into this month's report,
as they were processed after the statement cutoff date.
Book sales amounted to $138.37, but there were some discrepancies regarding whether and
when the items were sold.
Further details regarding the $138.37, along with supporting documentation, will be presented at
the next meeting for clarification.
Reimbursement Requests
The committee reviewed Angie Fain’s reimbursement request for calendar photography.
It was highlighted Angie Fain took the initiative to hire a photographer and paid $100 for
the service, initially as a donation to the committee. Although she did not anticipate
reimbursement, it was advised that she proceed with the necessary steps to obtain it, as
the work was already completed. The committee expressed no objections to this
recommendation.
Maggie Titterington pointed out that, for future reference, any formal requests must be
presented to the committee, and all committee expenses should be operated from and
aligned to the completed Policies and Procedures. With Angie Fain being recused from the
vote (nor present at this time), Roz Wise made a motion to approve the reimbursement of
$100, which was seconded by Lauren Dalton.
Motion passed. (4-0)

SHPC Membership Updates
Rose Arispe was welcomed to the committee. Roz Wise and Maggie
Titterington interviewed Jim Burdett and concluded that he would be a valuable addition to the
committee. Roz Wise motioned to approve Jim Burdette for appointment as a new member,
which was seconded by Chris Hormel. The motion passed unanimously (5-0). His appointment
is scheduled to be presented to the City Council on July 15, 2025.
The committee will revise/update the membership roster to include Roz Wise's suggestion of
indicating resident/non-resident status for each member. It was also noted that Jim Burdett will
be the last non-resident member, as the committee's capacity is currently capped at 3, for

non-residents.
Outlook 365
Jack Bluebird shared updates regarding the establishment of Office 365 accounts and
SharePoint site for efficient document management. Email addresses will be allocated to
the committee, enhancing their ability to communicate seamlessly and access shared
documents and resources.
SHPC Policies and Procedures & By-Laws:
Discussion on policies and procedures has been postponed to facilitate a thorough review.
Chris Hormel’s input/feedback is anticipated, and in the meantime, a meeting will be
arranged with Maggie Titterington, Brian James and Chris Hormel to discuss further
before the July meeting, as Chris Hormel will be unavailable until September, and the
committee wishes to avoid delaying the item for too long. Roz Wise invited members to
submit their concise descriptions or proposed that she could handle the task of crafting the
descriptions on her own.
SHPC - Then & Now Calendar
Roz Wise presented a prototype of the mock calendar and discussed its development. It
was recommended to incorporate important city dates significant to the community, such
as the Schertz incorporation date, the Schertz name registry date, and other notable city
incorporation milestones. Additionally, the committee suggested condensing the
descriptions for each landmark to enhance the presentation of the calendar's content. Roz
Wise made it an open request while also offering to take on or complete the task herself.
-Angie Fain arrived during the portion of the calendar discussion.
June 6th Trivia night Recap
The recap of trivia night showcased a successful event filled with positive feedback. The
committee extended gratitude to Mark Thorton and the S.C. History Club for providing
the sound system and trivia categories, as well as to Angie Fain and Sophie Rodriguez for
the generous prizes from their network of sponsors.
City Event Support:
Kathleen Samsey was unable to attend but sent an email update regarding her upcoming
absence in July. In the meantime, she will continue to collaborate remotely with Zii Reed,
Roz Wise, and others on the event support shopping list and screen options for displaying
photos at events. Discussions on proposed upcoming city events are scheduled for the
September-October timeframe and are being tracked accordingly.
Sorting & Cataloging of Photos:
Maggie Titterington shared that progress in organizing the photos has stopped due to the
end of the school year, but will resume once the school year starts, with the goal of
completing the process shortly thereafter.

Devan Christensen, from the City of Schertz Public Affairs Department, introduced
herself to the committee. She presented a comprehensive proposal for branding and
updating street signs in our heritage neighborhoods. She proposed a broader branding
initiative for the signs, with the goal of collaborating with the committee to enhance the
existing signs, helping the public recognize the committee's work, demonstrating the
committee's connection to the city and create a consistent, professional appearance.
Moreover, it supports the city’s goal of establishing a strong, positive image.
Devan Christensen developed a proposed color scheme that aligns with the tones
currently in use, incorporating the city’s orange and navy, along with complementary
colors that resonate with the historic vibe. She also presented the proposed color palette
alongside the existing logo. Aviation Heights currently has a mix of signs, including older
ones with bright blue colors featuring the old logo. The aim is to create a cohesive look for
the neighborhood.
Devan Christensen proposed adding a topper to the standard street signs to designate them
as part of the heritage neighborhood. A draft design was ready for review, which included
the new style street sign with a topper at each intersection. Devan Christensen spoke with
Public Works to inventory existing signs featuring the old logo. The plan was to upgrade
these and ensure consistency across the neighborhood.
Staff will present a final design next meeting. The committee plans to present the proposal
to the city council in August.
