Contact was made with TXDOT regarding signage. FM 1518
cannot be designated a no truck route due to part of the
roadway being in unincorporated Guadalupe County.
Schertz can place signs on state highways (FMs and IH 35) as
long as they are >150-200 feet from state signs.
We can place weight limit signs on FM 78 and IH 35 Access
Road indicating limit on Schertz Parkway
Signage / Trucks
Suggestion of signs for all major entrances to the city indicating authorized truck routes being:
IH 35
FM 3009
FM 482
FM 2252
FM 78
FM 1518
Additionally, signs could be added indicating 15,000 lb. weight limit on all city streets
Possibly check with TXDOT / Selma to see if we can add a low clearance sign at the Selma entrance to FM 1518.
Signage / Trucks
GPS Companies: Contact was made with Google Maps, Apple Maps, and Waze who all indicated that their maps contain all necessary information regarding railroad crossings (not willing to change anything)
Check of trucker’s apps for directions show that the free ones have many issues and I have not been able to get a trial for the paid apps to test them, yet.
Reached out to Fleetworthy who advised they would put a warning in their system that alerts drivers through their in-cab toll and weigh station bypass system.
