The December monthly meeting of the Schertz Y o~th Commission was called to order by Emily
Furillo, President, at 6:31 pm.

Mrs. Ellis welcomes everyone to the meeting and introduces the guest Erin Matlock. She is the
chairmen of the Festival of Angels Committee. Mrs. Matlock passes out certificates of
appreciation to those Youth Commission members who volunteered at the Festival of Angels.
Travis moves to accept last months minutes, Sonja seconds, a vote is called and all vote aye.
The calendar for the upcoming 2007 year is discussed. It is decided thatthere will be no meeting
in January due to holidays. All other meetings were set:
February 26th
March 19th
April 16th
May 14th
June 18th
July 16th
August 20th
September 17th
October 15th
November 19th
December 17th
Travis moves to accept the new meeting dates. Sonja seconds, a vote is called and all vote aye.
Mrs. Etlis &'SCusses the Ft. Worth.YouthSummit on February 17th and 18th. The commission
decides on certain member to attend. Justin, Chris, Emily and David were selected.
Emily briefly brings:up attendance to meetings and events. She wants all members to remember
the attendance policy that we set down in the by laws.
Emily also discusses that lately during meetings the commission has had a problem with staying
on task. She wants everyone to stay to exactly what is on the agenda to be discussed.
Emily says that she would like to seetllOre direct community service events for the commission.
In response, Mrs. Ellis says ,that the new Parks and Recreation Superintendent would like to talk
to us about teenage social gathering .spots. He is invited to our February meeting.
Emily discusses the changes to the Youth Ambassadors. of Schertz Program. It is now coed. She
discusses the responsibilities and benefits ()fbecomirtg a Youth Ambassador. The ceremony is
February 24tkand applications are being accepted betweenJanuary 3rd and February 2nd. The
categories are asfo~ws:
Mr. and Mrs. ..Buffa1o Valley---9th _10th graders
Mr. and Mrs. Friendly City--l Oth -11 th. graders
Mr. and Mrs. Schertz---12th graders
