A RESOLUTION DECLARING THE NEED FOR COMBINING
DUPLICATE EFFORTS BETWEEN LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES;
CITING THE AACOG AS THE AGENCY TO CONDUCT A STUDY
OF LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT NEEDS; AUTHORIZING THE
AACOG TO APPLY FOR A CRIMINAL JUSTICE GRANT TO
FINANCE SUCH A STUDY; AND AGREEING TO SERIOUSLY
CONSIDER THE RESULTS OF SUCH A STUDY

WHEREAS, the City of Schertz and the Guadalupe County Sheriff's
Department feel that there are certain areas of support services in
Law Enforcement that can best be performed centrally by one departM
ment and;
WHEREAS, the increasingly high costs of technological equipment
and operations prohibit continued duplication of routine police support
services and;
WHEREAS, The City of Schertz has been advised by the Texas
Criminal Justice Division through the Alamo Area Council of
Governments that prior to any such amalgamation of services a
Design Study by professional consultants is required;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SCHERTZ, TEXAS, that such a study be conducted and hereby
authorizes the Alamo Area Council of Governments to submit a
Criminal Justice Grant Application to the State of Texas to cover
the full cost of such study.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the recommendations of the
consultants will be given serious consideration for implementation
and in fact will be implemented to the extent agreed upon by the
units of government's concerned.
This authorization will cover the period July 1, 1974 to June
30, 1975.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the City of
