SCHERTZ PUBLIC LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD (LAB) MINUTES
The LAB met on June 5, 2006 with the following members present:

Minutes: Minutes for the April meeting were presented. Margaret to accept the minutes and Barbara seconded.
Motion carried.
Treasurer's Report: March Treasurer's report was presented. Barbara reported that May bookstore sales were
$789.30. April ending balance was 11,394.27. Laura moved to accept report and Margaret seconded. Motion
carried.
Citizen Comments: None
Librarians' Report:
. The stats for May were as follows: 22,283 checkouts (12% increase); 14,795 people came in (9% increase
from last year); 338 new cards were issued in May.
. Summerreading club started May 31,2006. 441 registered (89 registered online). $13,274 was donated
for prizes.(va...lu.e..)
. Bike Rodeo was held with the Police Department, Optimist Club and Clemens Key Club helping. 65
participants.
. Boy Scout Troop cleaned flowerbeds in front of the library.
. Gates Foundation donated $6,250.00 for new computers. Bid sent to Dell for new computers.
. Karen went to AALS workshop and ~~t lots of info.
. Movies in June were Amaz=tttg'ff~r-(MaT~i~and Maqagascar. July will be The March of the Penguins
and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.t.n Jl~ ~l5-t.
. Web Head Group will design new web page. Logo will be city seal with open book. Should be up in about
a month.
Directors' Report:
. No meeting in July.
. August meeting will be in new civic center.
. Grand opening of civic center will be Friday, June 30, 2006.
. July 1, 2006 will be the first event there with Air Force Band West performing at 7:00 p.m. You will need
a ticket to attend but they are free.
Committee Reports: None
Old Business: Float for July 4th Parade theme is "Come Home to Schertz". We will work on the float on June 23,
2006. Patti made motion to accept Carl Douglas to be on LAB and Margaret seconded and motion carried.
New Business: Waiting for design for new library building. There was a discussion on collecting old mobile
phones. Carl will check to see if there are any city drop-offs.
Patti made motion to adjourn and Barbara seconded and motion carried.
Reminder: Next LAB meeting is scheduled for Monday, August 7,2006 at 7:00 p.rn.
