Librarians' Reports:
. The stats for November were as follows: 20,581 in circulation; 13,312 patrons;
304 in story time attendance; and 1,884 for computer usage. The computer usage
was lower due to no internet access for 4 to 5 days. The Saturday after
Thanksgiving was very busy with almost 900 in circulation.
. An ad for a 10 hr. a week circulation clerk was advertised. Melissa will go
through the 62 applications that were submitted.
. The Texas State Librarians and Archives Commission (TSLAC) reported the new
number for the 3 county area of Guadalupe, Bexar, and Comal, which is 47,895
people. The number for the Guadalupe area, the Schertz Public Library service
area, is 45,065. This number impacts our budget and decides whether or not we
meet standards. It will be used against last year's budget.
. Gail will attend a January 7 city management meeting. The group is counting on
the LAB's assistance with the bond.
Committee Reports: Members discussed LAB openings. Applications from the
community will have to be submitted to the city for approval. The Nominating
Committee consists of Barbara, Simone, and Leah. Barbara recommended that Ruth,
Mary, Margaret, and Pattie be accepted for re-appointment to the board. Simone
seconded. The motion carried. The appointments will be given to the council in January.
Officer appointments will be postponed until January in order to be placed on the city
agenda. The treasurer position needs to be filled. The committee will ask possible
candidates before the January meeting.
Old Business:
. Melissa reported that the library float entry in the Festival of Angels Parade
looked great and was well received.
