LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD MINUTES
The Library Advisory Board met in regular session on Monday, August 1, 1988, at
7:30 p.m.
Members present:
Mary McAllister, Chairman
Julie Parr, Treasurer
Connie Brison, Secretary
Margaret Riley
The minutes were presented. It was noted that the date due for LAB candidates
should have read August 1, rather than Aug. 2 as typed. Tony moved to accept
the corrected minutes, and Julie seconded. Motion passed.
Julie presented the treasurer's report. Margaret moved to accept it, and Connie
seconded. Motion passed.

The Collection stands at: Adult, 10,398; YA, 579; Juvenile, 3910; Filmstrips,
June Hughes has agreed to be our new lay representative; Connie is alternate.
An IBM-compatible computer with Winnebago software will be purchased. Tony
Van Haydn, systems analyst from RAFB, has written us an overdue program.
Mary and Gail attended budget hearings in Seguin. Com. Brannon says they will
try to honor our request for county funds.
The luncheon honoring library volunteers went
Mrs. Gene Riley (Kasey) is a new, energetive,
Tuesday, Th~rsday, and Friday.
Jim Shriver of Schertz Business Club says to write them a letter requesting
funds since that organization has not donated to us in awhile. He also plans
to compile The History of Schertz, sell the book, and donate proceeds to SPL.
~e is also bringing several of his personal magazines for use on our shelves.
The Randolph Optimist Club may donate $100.00 each to SPL, UC Lib., and the
new Converse library for children's books.
The front sign has been painted.

Tony will go to the next city council workshop session to present our suggestions
for salary of library staff and make known our financial priorities regarding the
building, additioQ, etc~
OLD BUSINESS
Tony talked generally with the man about the duct work problems. He will likely
come when the addition's needs can be evaluated at the same time.

It was suggested that a schedule be s,et up as a guide for the genealogy
people to be at the library and available to the public as helpers in tracing
~ their family histories or in helping to further organize the genealogy materials.
A report was made concerning LAB candidates. Gerald Thurman was agreeable
to joining the LAB. Tony moved to accept him; Connie seconded. Motion passed.
Mr. Kale declined. Mr. Schriver is so busy, especially with the history book
project that no contact was made at this time.
The certificater:of appreciation for LAB service will be given to Earl Hartzog
tomorrow night, Aug. 2, at the city council meeting.
MISC. BUSINESS
There is a problem with fire ants in the lawn.
With no other business to discuss Margaret moved to adjourn; Julie seconded.
