The LAB met on March 2, 1998 at 7:00 p.m. with the following members present:
John Grosskopf Margaret Riley Julie Parr Gail Douglas
Barbara Ricks Rutb Tienor Juan Thorn
Minutes for the February meeting were presented. Julie made the motion to accept the
minutes, with a second by Ruth. The motion carried.
Treasurer's Report: An official report was still unavailable. Julie stated that the cash
account is approximately $7,700.00. The CD was cashed in December at $7,072.00.
There was discussion about whether or not to put more money in the CD account and
decrease the cash flow. The LAB authorized Julie to deposit into the CD account
$5,000.00 and leave $1,500.00 in the cash account to which Gail can have access.
It was suggested that a thank you letter be written in the Schertz Newsletter to patrons
who have given donations to the library. No names will be printed, just a general thank
you.
Librarian's Report:
- ATLA Conference will be held at the Convention Center from Aprill through 4. Gail
brought a schedule of events for anyone interested in attending any events or exhibits.
-Gail received the technology plan and needs to send it in. She is applying for the E-rate
discount, which is 25% off the top then 50-60% after that.
- Mr. Sweatt signed tbe contract for Tony VanderHeyden to be the consultant for
computer purchases. Hopefully, computers will be up and running by June.
-An advertisement was placed through TLA for a children's librarian because the part-

to open an Enriched Learning Center. There wasn't enough time to apply tbis year.
-Lisa will continue to work light duties until her baby is born. She is still on probation,
