LAB 02-03-2003
SCHERTZ PUBLIC LmRARY ADVISORY BOARD (LAB) MINUTES
The LAB met on 3 February 2003 with the following members present:

Gail Douglas Lisa Connoly Barbara Ricks Mary McAllister
Minutes: Minutes were presented. Margaret moved to approve the minutes, and Ruth seconded.
Minutes were approved.
Treasurer's Report: Julie gave October, November, December and January reports as she
knows them to be correct, however, she is still waiting on the city system to be complete. Ruth
motioned to accept the reports as given and Barbara seconded. Treasurer's reports were
approved.
Librarian's Report:
Bookstore slowly coming up in sales. Melissa is working hard and it is improving.
Position open for county rep and can be filled by Barbara according to Jim Wolverton.
Library overall is doing well. Melissa is slowly taking over all things. Library will be
looking to get a new Children's Librarian in October and Melissa will move up front.
Shelving was ordered for non-fiction. Simone will find out about using Scouts to do
bookshelves to fulfill their Scout project requirements.
Gail has no plans to weed any more books from the library. She wants to start building a
collection.
Need to start thoughts on publicity for June Anniversary.
Bond issue dates have changed to March 6th and 13th for community group meetings.
These meetings will help decided priority of what town wants as far as recreation goes.
City will be invited to a community forum scheduled in April.
Committee Reports:
- Ideas need to be brought to the next board meeting for upcoming June Anniversary .
New Business:
Mary wanted to know about spring cleanup dates. Gail will find out.

Report from Council Representative:
Gail reported that the city will kick offnew water system with a "Big Splash" on 20
February at 10:30 am. Wear a raincoat! Parking will be at Good Shep41d (~hi} Church.
Schertz Parkway is on track and should be complete mid-April. 5hepned
Ruth moved to adjourn the meeting. Julie seconded. Motion carried. The next meeting will
be Monday, March 3 at 7:00 p.m.
