Librarian's Report:
-Gail reported that the library volunteers will be invited to a volunteer party before the
May LAB meeting. The" Build Your Own Banana Split" Party will be at 6:30 P.M.
-The stats for March are up only about 400 because the library had to be closed one
Saturday to clean up after the last rain and hailstorm. Water leaked into the library and
bookshelves had to be moved to vacuum up the water. $3,600 had to be spent from the
budget for the clean up. Neither the construction company, the architect, nor the
insurance company would assume responsibility for paying for the clean up. The
architect suggested drilling holes in the gutters to prevent a leaking problem in the
future. $63,000 for a new roof will probably be put in the city budget in the fall.
-Gail will not attend the TLA Convention in Houston because it is too difficult to take
time off at this time.
-New computers should be purchased soon because new software will be available in
May and there is a need for new circulation computers.
-A consultant will be hired by the city to plan for improvements along F.M.78 and
Schertz Parkway. Gail is part of the improvement committee and thinks the library
landscaping should be put on hold until after the consultant presents his ideas. The
library landscaping might be included in the city plan.
Committee Reports: None
Old Business: None
Council Representative:
-Pia Jarman reported that a mistake was made in The Herald about her seeking
reelection. She is not running this time, however, Norma Head will take her position on
the council.
-The city offices still have not been moved but should be ready soon.
.
The motion to adjourn was made by Ruth and seconded by Julie. The next LAB
meeting will be on Monday, May 1, 2000 at 7P.M.
