The Schertz Public Library Board met July 7,1980 for its
regular monthly meeting. Board members absent were Ruth, Jennie,
.Roy, Doug and Kermit.
The minutes were read and after an addition to the previous

Librarian's Report
A used paperback rack was purchased for $35.00. The water
fountain and Air Conditioner were both broken during the previous
week. The summer reading program is in full swing and the children
are enjoying it as well as Linn.
Circulation of 2,169 books for the month of June.
55 resident, 9 non-reside~t and 2 users fee cards were
$34.35 in fines collected. There are now 154 records
books cataloged.
Linn is vacationing July 29th thru Aug. 12th.

COMMITTEE REPORTS
1. Budget and Finance reports that the Kresges Fund was not
awarded to the Library.
2. Building and Property.. Henry reported that the Air
Conditioner is fixed but that the drinking fountain needs a
replacement part. Four new she1vi~g units should be delivered
by Wednesday.
3. Nominating Committee reccomended Jackie Cleveland be
appointed to replace Harriet and to finish out the two year term.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
The 4th of July booths went well with a $146.55 profit. The

the bouy game.
NEW BUSINESS
1. Mr. Gilmore and council persons Jackie Lawler, Barbara
Taylor and Earl Sawyer attended the meeting. The suggested if the
Library would like the building site where the old Safes building
is they should make a request to City Council.
2. It was also suggested that we contact all our Council
Members regarding any needs such as a site and new building.
3. Our City Fathers attended the County Budget hearing in
Seguin and requested County Funds on our behalf. It was their
suggestion that a letter or phone call preferably a letter be
sent to our County Commissioner, Mr. Ackerman and to the Budget
Director Judge Fleming requesting funds for the Library. Reminding
them gently that 40% of the population lives around Schertz. The
letters should be sent to the County Courthouse, Seguin, Texas, 78155.
