The Schertz Public Library Advisory Board held it's monthly Board
meeting with Margaret Riley bringing the meeting to order. Absent were
Jenny Williams and Jackie Cleveland.
Mr. Richard Bledsoe was introduced as he attended his first Board
meeting as a new member. Mr. Duffield, a new city councilman, was also
introduced.

LIBRARIANS REPORT
There were 43 resident, 10 non-resident cards issued. Thirty-Eight
attended Story Hour. There was $69.55 in fines collected with a circulation
of 1,556. A Total of 11,059 books and 160 records are catalogued.
Nita Rosemeyer, author of "Bamboo and Heather" is to appear at Clyde
Ford Village Oct. 15th at 2:30 P.M. Refreshments will be served by Senior
Citizens.
Linn purchased 40 "best sellers" books for $170.00. The books were
~alf price and paid for by Linn but to be reimbursed to her as soon as we
receive money from the city.
Linn will be attendint on Tuesday and Wednesday, Oct. 7 & 8 the Texas
System Advisory Council Conference and Texas State Library and Archives
Commission Meeting in Austin. The program will be about "Orientation &
Guide Lines for the Lay Advisory Members and the Future of Libraries".
COMMITTEE REPORTS

2. Auditing Committee: The committee had audited the books and
everything was in order.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
. 1. The Lay Advisory Board semi-annual meeting was Sept. 11 at the
San Antonio Public Library. The program was "Services provided by District

2. Doug made a motion to purchase McNaughton books at a price up to
$225.00 total. Motion carried.
3. Storage: The books need to be moved from Safes Building by next
week.
4. Henry reported on the Sept. 22nd. meeting of the Hill Country
Multi-County Library meeting at Boerne. The program was on "Per Capita
spending and Local Action" and what per capita will mean to Dist. 10.
Comparisons in State per capita were made with Texas at the bottom with
16 cents while other states ranged from several dollars to Arkansas .40
to Texas .16.
5. A Plea was made to write your Texas representatives to try to
raise per capita spending in Texas.
NEW BUSINESS
1. The South Western Library Association will meet at the San
Antonio Convention Center Oct. 30 thru Nov. 1st. with workshops, Speakers
and exhibits. The Theme being "Opportuinities towards 2000".
2. A plea was made to Council members present to not make social
or business commitments for the Library Board without their prior
Knowledge.
3. Henry asked about a contract with the County for funds and it
was decided that both parties would have to want a contract first.
4. Donna asked about the Vertical File and Linn said it was coming
along.
