The Schertz Public Library Board met April 2, 1979 for its regular
monthly meeting.
The minutes of the previous meeting held in February was read and
approved. The treasurer's report as stated was approved as read:

The librarians report indicated that circulation for March totaled
1,397 books and 17 films with 59 attending story hour. There was $35.33
collected in fines.
Committee Reports
1. Book Committee reported 200 books classified during March. An
order to use approximately 1800 revenue sharing funds has been placed.
2. Budget & Finance reported that our application to the J. Frank
Dobie Foundation for a grant was turned down this year.
3. Building & Grounds reported that Mr. Hillerthas almost completed
puting duct work for air conditioning in the work room.
4. Policy Committee set a ruling that books could be issued on a special
loan program to people non-qualifing under our regular guidelines. On each
book checked out a Refundable deposit based on the cost of the book or $10.00
will be required. Renewals will be for one time only. A motion was made by
Kay Sherman and seconded by Edith Cloud that we accept the above recommendation
by the policy committee on special loans. Motion carried unanimously.
The next recommendation of the Policy committee was that where board
members and volunteers resign in good faith a letter of appreciation will be
sent by the executive committee of the Library Board. Those resigning with
a minimum of six months be given a gift, of minimal expense to the library,
money to be supplies from petty cash. A motion was made by Roy W. Richard Jr.
and seconded by Marguerite Martinez that we accept policy recommendation of
sending an appreciation letter and small gift. Motion carried unanimously.

5. Publicity reported that McDonald's will set up drink dispenser and
distribute book marks during Library Week.
6. Personel reported that they were working on a job description to go
to the city.
Old Business
Marg Rakowsky and Ruth Tienor reported on the District Meeting they attend-
ed and the status of membership in District X.
Ruth Tienor reported that a used carpet which was donated to the library
and did not fit the library's needs was sold for a high bid of $21.00.
Margaret Riley reported that an order has been placed for new hard back
books.
New Business
Ruth Tienor reported that on April 19th, there would be a Children's Work-
shop in San Antonio and the possability of several volunteers attending. Mrs.
Tienor also reported that due to Rakowsky's being transferred, Felix Arambelia
of Seguin would be gOiing to the White House Conference of Library & Information
Services.
Councilman Earl Sawyer reported on the city election and charter revision.
There being no further business Margaret Riley made a motion that the
meeting be adjourned, Margaret Martinez seconded. Motion carried unanimously.
