Ass'n donvention
Gail finished her collection evaluation in the 500's section (Pure Science)..
Her findings include: 1) too small for our community, 2) very out-dated and
had to pull 35 undesirable and outdated books; she plans to use $900.00
from the state to replace them, 3) she should do similar evaluations in all
sections, 4) evaluation should be ongoing, 5) recommends that 6% of money
should be used annually to add new books. A copy of her evaluation will
be available at the Library for perusal.
Ha.~ing bElgun 0/1, April ~, .Saturday, library hours are now 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
A VOE student is now working, and there. is another volunteer. .
Gail has decided to get an IBM computer.
FINANCE COMMITTEE
Comments about the book sale asserted that the chief reasons for less profits
were likely due to the bad weather and having the sale during Spring Break.

PUBLIC RELATIONS COMMITTEE
Connie reported figures for advertising by inserting flyers for fundraisers
with Herald-News deliveries. Costs were considerable; a su~gestion was made that
we try advertising the book sale in the, garage sale section of the classifieds.
Discussioh endorsed the writing of a thank-you letter to the Clemens
National Honor Society sponsors and members for book sale help.
BUILDING COMMITTEE
Earl reported that unanimous approval was given for the proposed 50'X60'
addition when the recommendation was presented at the March 11 city council meeting.
Fred brought plans for LAB members to inspect and noted minor alterations that
were suggested. He will go forward to present plans that will include additional
parking space and sidewalks.
POLICY COMMITTEE
Margaret has contacted Leon Valley Library because of its similar size to ours
and has requested a copy of its censorship policy to add to others collected for
study.
OLD BUSINESS

on March 19th and 25th and received 'a favorable review. A letter is to be for-
warded to Washington.
NEW AND MISC. BUSINESS
July 4th activities were discussed. We will delay plans until we hear from
Schertz Business Club about activities its members advocate.
Fred reported that a PCRA rodeo will be held on May 2nd at The Bluebonnet
Palace. The Rotary Club and the Johns family are co-sponsoring the event. Organi-
zations that provide manpower to run booths outside will receive a percentage of
the profits. Mary moved that we pursue this opportunity and Earl seconded. Motion
carried. A sign-up sheet for work hours was distributed.
Gail said that a can of beer was found in the men's restroom. It, along
with toilet paper, was used to clog the toilet. This incident is another sign
of continuing vandalism.
