The IBM computer has arrived. Summer workshops with Bob Walton, Texas State Library Automation Consultant, will be helpful in selection of computer materials. A workshop on planning libraries will be on May 20th. The extended Saturday hours seem to be working out satisfactorily. There are some new volunteers. The new address, 608 Schertz Parkway, will be official on June 1st. An order to the printer has been submitted for new address, library hours, etc. The sign outside must have attention as to the new address. There are still lawn care problems. Earl's son and Tony have each mowed the lawn. Mr. Graham denied a fertilizer request because of lack of funds. Aggie said that he and Mr. Gilmore have discussed that Gail should now work directly with Mr. Gilmore about lawn needs. The sprinkler system is not working right. Gail wrote the letter of appreciation to Clemens Honor Society members and sponsors, thanking them for help at our book sale. BUILDING COMMITTEE Earl has the plans for the library addition and will transfer to the city ASAP. OLD BUSINESS We decided to prepare an entry for the Fourth of July parade,if missing the deadline is not a problem. We will not man a booth at the park. We discussed our experiences with working the booth at the Bluebonnet Palace during the rodeo on May 2nd. We filled out the critique sheet as requested by the Rotary Club. Consensus was that if the game booths were to continue, they should be more visible,or signs that would direct attention to them should be put up. The Rotary Club and the Johns family will sponsor a tractor pull at the Bluebonnet Palace on May 23 and 24. No details were available; as many LAB members who can will plan to work a booth during that event. We want to support these community events and appreciate being included. (LAB members should wear the badges stored in the Library that serve as identification that we are indeed members of the SPlAB.) Literacy Program workshops will be held on May 9th and 16th. NEW AND MISC. BUSINESS Julie inquired as to when budget hearings will be held. No info yet. Julie moved to adjourn the meeting and Tony seconded. ~~ Connie Brison, Secretary .;" -....<.
