LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD MINUTES
The Library Advisory Board met in regular session on
Monday, July 2, 1984, at 7:30 p.m.
Members present were:

Doris Courtney.
TREASURER'S REPORT ( see attached)
Margaret Riley moved the Treasurer's Reiort be approved.
Sharon Ricketts seconded.
LIBRARIAN'S REPORT
Statistics (reported by Julie Parr):
Resident cards issued- 53 Circulation - 2508
Non-Resident "- 26 Fines Collected - $98.20
User's Fees - -9 Copier Fees - $18.80
Reported by Gail Douglas:
The Collection stands at: Adult volumes -6931; Young
Adult - l148; Juvenile - 2576.
She started "staff" meetings once a month for Volunteers.
All will get updates on happenings and training in specific areas
as needed.
Gail attended the American Library Association Conference
on June 24th and 25th in Dallas. She had an interesting trip and
obtained an autographed copy from Rosalynn Carter in her recently
published biography.
The Schertz Historical Marker was dedicated in front of the
Library on June 30th at lO:OO a.m. with a very nice ceremony and
reception (Gail and Lois Moore, a volunteer in charge). Approxi-
mately 100 people attended. Mr. Tom DeKunder, member of the
Guadalupe County Historical Association and researcher from Schertz
will donate all his materials to the Library.
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Finance: Copies of the City's Proposed Budget, Library
section were passed out by Margaret who attended Council Workshop.
Everything proposed by this committee was not included, such as
an increase in AV (audio-visuals) and maintenance of equipment.
Other items were increased. Line items can be adjusted by request
of Librarian to Council. Next Budget WorkShOp is Aug. 1st.

Building: Fred Ross, chairman, approved Margaret Riley taking
and updated list of furniture purchased with County funds to Judge
Sagabie1 on his monthly visit to Schertz on June 12th. He has been
very pleased and took pictures when he was here for the Marker
Dedication.
OLD BUSINESS: The Fourth of July Jubilee was discussed.
Fred Ross will pick up the Horserace Game from the Cibo1o Fire
Dept. Worker schedule was passed out. Gail to work on "float"
(truck) for Library in the Parade.
Doris will see about presentation of certificate for Harriett
Lipps and letters to Organizations for periodical subscription
donations to the Library.
Fred Ross's proxy was accepted for adjournment. Sharon
Ricketts seconded.
