LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD MINUTES
The Library Advisory Board met in regular session on Monday,
December 3, 1984, at 7:30 pm.

Mayor Earl Sawyer and his wife attended to present the other half
of the picture to the library. He also extended an invitation to
his "open house" on December 15.

Fred Ross moved the minutes of November 5 be approved. Doris seconded.
TREASURER'S REPORT (see attached)
Doris Courtney moved the report be accepted. Sharon Rickets seconded.
LIBRARIAN'S REPORT
Stats: Resident - 52
Non-Resident - 25
User's Fees - 4
Fines - $72.25
Copier - $22.65
Circulation - 2,504
Gail reported: Adult - 7,329; young adult - 1,188; juvenile - 2,659
Specialized book purchasing - spend money on young adult. story hour
is not working out - may go back to Saturday. New library hours are
okay.
Aggie Aguilar suggested we send a letter to the Herald asking for
a library column. Publicity will send the letter.
Gail attended two workshops:
November 15 - local history with Greg Hill from Seguin; she is
going to help with Guadalupe history.
November 17 - life and illiteracy. How can the library cooperate
with adult education? GED test booklets were ordered.
Clerk is doing well. Working 8-10 hours extra a week.

FINANCE
Ruth Tienor made a motion to put the revenue sharing ($4850) towards
bricking the bUilding. Fred Ross seconded. This was discussed and
will be tabled until we hear about funds in January. (Should we
check with the city about paying our debt?)
BUILDING
Meeting, December 10, at 7:30. Water in light on the porch - needs
caulking.
OLD BUSHfESS
Dance Committee - Fred Ross, Sharon Rickets, Ruth Tienor.
NEW BUSINESS
Nominating'.Committee presented the following recommendations:
Chairman - Tony Paulson
Vice-Chairman - Ruth Tienor
Treasurer - Julie Parr
Secretary - Mary McAlister
Sharon Rickets moved the nominations be accepted. Margaret seconded.
Carried.
FRIENDS
Ruth Tienor met with Friends. They have their constitution. Agreed
to change meeting night to 1st Thursday of the month. A reminder
will be sent out for the January meeting. Election of officers will
be at the January meeting. A letter was sent to National Friends to
become affiliated.
FRED ROSS moved we adjourn. Julie seconded.
