PLANNING AND ZONING MINUTES
The Planning and Zoning Commission of the City of Schertz convened
in Regular Session, Tuesday, September 11, 1979, at 7:00 PM in the
Municipal Complex Conference Room, 1400 Live Oak Road. The follow-
ing members were present:

#1 CALL TO ORDER
Chairman Aguilar called to order the Regular Session of the
Planning and Zoning Commission at 7:00 PM.
#2 READING OF MINUTES
Joint Meeting with the City Council of August 28, 1979.
Mr. Linebarger moved to accept the minutes as read. The motion
was seconded by Mr. Willman. The motion carried unanimously.

REVIEW OF PROPOSED SUBDIVISION ORDINANCE
The Planning and Zoning Commission brought Mr'. Hammuup to date,on.
what we had covered and answered his questions pertalning tQ the
Subdivision Ordinance;'
#4 STAFF BRIEFING
Restricted access to FM 3009.
Mr. Hamm related to the Commission that Beacon Circle Plat is
being withheld for approval until a plat of the drainage-system
has.ubeen'submitted.
Mr. Hamm handed out information containing the.current data as to
the future population growth and traffic load on' FM 3009.- -
Mr.Hamm said he was meeting with Seguin. Traffic Engineer, Mr.
Jones, on the twenty year highway program--which- also include
FM 78 but not FM 3009.
Chief Schoonover spoke to the Planning and 'Zoning Commission on
restricting the access to- business on,FM 3009,~j:ri:: thep1.anriing- -
stages, With one entrance and exit to a proposed business section
traffic from FM 3009 could be controlled.
Mrs. Lawler asked that sidewalks and a green area also be considered.
All discussion centered around how to keep FM 3009 from becomming
another Pat Booker Road.

Mr. Linebarger asked how far from a proposed business corner should
the one curb cut be allowed. Chief Schoonover stated that he thought
the normal rule for other towns of 150 feet could be considered.
Mr. Linebarger ask that in the near future that Planning and Zoning
Commissio~ as a group, drive around Schertz and the other areas around
Schertz to reorientate themselves with what is happening around Schertz.
#5 GENERAL DISCUSSION
Planning and Zoning Commission ask that the City Staff ask the City
Council what their present plan and thinking is for the bypass on
FM 78..
