AN ORDINANCE DETERMINING AND FIXING THE MAXIMUM
SCHEDULES OF RATES TO BE CHARGED BY UNITED GAS
CORPORATION, ITS SUCCESSORS AND ASSIGNS, IN THE
CITY OF SCHERTZ, TEXAS, FOR NATURAL GAS AND
NATURAL GAS SERVICE FURNISHED BY IT TO RESI-
DENTIAL AND COMMERCIAL CONSUMERS, CONTAINING
DEFINITIONS, FIXING THE EFFECTIVE DATES OF GAS
RATES PRESCRIBED IN THIS ORDINANCE" MAKING MIS-
CELLANEOUS PROVISIONS AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES
IN CONFLICT.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SCHERTZ, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That United Gas Corporation, its successors
and assigns, is hereby authorized to continue in effect the follow-
ing schedules of rates within the corporate limits of the City of
Schertz, Texas (hereinafter called "City"), for the supply of
natural gas and natural gas service:
RESIDENTIAL RATES
Rate Schedule R-56, a copy of which
is attached, marked Exhibit "A", and
made a part hereof.
COMMERCIAL RATES
Rate Schedule SC-56, a copy of which
is attached, marked Exhibit "B", and
made a part hereof.
The above described schedules of residential rates and of commercial
rates, as adjusted in the manner therein provided, are the highest
rates that may be charged by United Gas Corporation, its successors
and assigns, for residential consumers and commercial consumers
within the City. Other lower residential rates and commercial rates
may be fixed and determined from time to time by United Gas Corpo-
ration, its successors and assigns, for gas and gas service fUrnished
to residential consumers and commercial consumers wi thin the City.
SECTION 2. That the terms "residential consumer" and
"commercial consumer" as used herein shall be defined as set out
in said Exhibits "AI! and "BI!, respectively.
SECTION 3. That natural gas supplied by United Gas Corpo-
ration, its successors and assigns, is for the individual use of the
consumer at one point of delivery and shall not be resold or shared
with others.

SECTION 4. That the maximum rates and charges prescribed
in this ordinance for residential consumers and commercial consumers
shall apply as maximum rates and chrages to all gas used by such
consumers to whom such rates are applicable after their regular
meter reading dates commencing on the day next following the effec-
tive date of this ordinance, viz, the date of passage hereof. Sub-
sequent adjusted rates sought to be made effective pursuant to the
rate schedules described in Section 1 shall be filed with the City.
Notwithstanding anything to the contrary set out in said rate
schedules, no such adjusted rates shall become effective until
notice of such adjusted rates has been on file with the City for
a period of thirty (30) days. No such adjusted rates shall become
effective except upon approval by the City Council. In the event
the City Council shall fail to act upon such adjusted rates either
by'an expression of approval or disapproval within the thirty (30)
day period above specified, such failure to act shall constitute
approval of such adjusted rates.
SECTION 5. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances
in conflict herewith are repealed to the extent of the conflict
only.
SECTION 6. That nothing contained in this ordinance
shall be constured as in any manner, now or hereafter, limiting
or modifying the right and power of the City under the law, to
regulate the rates charged by United Gas Corporation, its suc-
cessors and assigns, within the City.
Read in full and passed and adopted at a regular

RESIDENTIAL NATURAL GAS SERVICE
RATE SCHEDULE R-56
APPLICATION OF SCHEDULE
This schedule is applicable to natural gas service to a
customer in a dwelling or a residential apartment ror uses usual
in a home.
Natural gas supplied hereunder is ror the individual use
or the customer at one point or delivery and shall not be resold
or shared with others.
NET MONTHLY RATE
$1.50 per month, which includes the use or 600 cubic reet
10 Ii' per 100 cubic reet ror the next 2,400 cubic reet
8 Ii' per 100 cubic reet ror the next 7,000 cubic reet
5Y per 100 cubic reet ror all add! tional gas used.
Whenever revisions or the city gate rate paid by United
Gas Corporation are riled with the Railroad Commission or Texas,
or other appropriate jurisdictional body, the above consumer rates
shall be adjusted, either plus or minus, to rerlect the amount or
the change in the cost or domestic gas at the city gate above or
below the cost of such gas in errect on the 1st day or September,
1958, such adjusted consumer rates to apply to all gas used arter
the regular meter reading dates ralling on or arter the errective
date or such gate rate change,
Minimum Monthly Bill: $1.50 Net
PAYMENT
The above net monthly rate increased by 10% is the gross
monthly rate. All bills shall be rendered on the gross basis. The
dirference between the gross and net rates, representing a discount,
shall be allowed ror payment or bills within 10 days rrom date or
bill.

APPLICATION OF SCHEDULE
This schedule is applicable to natural gas service to a
customer in any business, professional, or institutional activity,
for all unrestricted uses of gas, including cooking, heating, re-
frigeration, water heating, air conditioning and power.
Natural gas supplied hereunder is for the individual use
of the customer at one point of delivery and shall not be resold
or shared with others.

in the ordinance, making miscellaneous provisions, and repealing
all ordinances in conflict. After the enactment of the above
described ordinance the full text thereof was published by
