RESOLUTION NO. 08-R-07
A RESOLUTION BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SCHERTZ, TEXAS DECLARING A NINETY DAY MORATORIUM ON
THE ISSUANCE OF PERMITS FOR ELECTRONIC SIGNS AND
BILLBOARDS, PROHIBITING THE PLANNING AND ZONING
COMMISSION FROM CONSIDERING OR MAKING
RECOMMENDATIONS REGARDING APPLICATIONS FOR
ELECTRONIC SIGN AND BILLBOARD PERMITS FOR A PERIOD OF
NINETY DAYS, AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Schertz, Texas (the "City") has established standards and regulations for
signs and billboards located within the City in Article IX of the Unified Development Code;
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City desires ninety days to research and determine the best
policy for the City regarding the future use of electronic signs and billboards within the City;
WHEREAS, it is recommended that the City place a moratorium on issuing permits for
electronic signs and billboards for a period of ninety days; and
WHEREAS, it is recommended that the Planning and Zoning Commission be barred from
considering applications for permits for electronic signs or billboards for a period of ninety days.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SCHERTZ, TEXAS:
Section 1. For a period of ninety days after the date of adoption of this Resolution, no permits for
electronic signs or billboards shall be issued by the City.
Section 2. For a period of ninety days after the date of adoption of this Resolution, the Planning
and Zoning Commission shall not consider and shall make no recommendations to the City
Council regarding applications for electronic sign or electronic billboard permits.
Section 3. All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict with this Resolution are hereby
repealed.
Section 4. This Resolution is effective on the date of adoption
