CALL TO ORDER
Chairman, Mustapha Debboun called the March 23, 2009 meeting to order at 5:35pm.
HEARING OF RESIDENTS
There were no Citizens to be heard.
DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION
1. Parks curfew hours - Mr. George Logan presented the board with the possibility of changing the park
hours so joggers could jog there in the mornings. Currently the park is open from 8:OOam until 11:OOpm.
Mr. Logan recommended the parks be opened at 5:30am for joggers. Ms. Floy Simmons made a motion to
change the opening hours and present the change to City Council for approval. Ms. Harriet Higgs seconded
the motion. The motion to recommend the change and forward to City Council for approval was
unanimous.
2. Renaming of parks -This item was postponed to the April 27, 2009 board meeting.
3. Wounded Warriors - This item was postponed to the April 27, 2009 board meeting.
4. Parks Projects Updates - Mr. Logan briefed the board on following City Parks Projects: Materials for trail
have been ordered and we are waiting on delivery. Anticipated completion date for the Perimeter Road is
April 15, 2009. Pickrell Park Pavilion upgrades are complete and additional work will include the adjacent
restrooms. Construction on the playground equipment is complete and they are adding two adult 8ft
benches to the area. New Recreation Facility construction is ongoing. Community Center North upgrade is
complete but there is still some minor drainage work that needs to be completed. The punch list for the
Kramer House/Visitor Center will be completed soon and Mr. Logan will be meeting with Ms. Wright on
the landscaping. Mr. Logan is still working on the Interlocal agreement with Bexar County for the Crescent
Bend Regional Park. Soccer Complex is busy with play and practices. Schertz Youth Soccer Alliance
contract will be presented to the City Council on March 24, 2009.
5. Parks Maintenance Update - Mr. Mike Trainor briefed the board that an Eagle Scout project had painted
the restrooms at Pickrell Park.
REQUESTS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS:
6. Request by Advisory Board Chairman and Board members for items to be placed on a future Board
Agenda -The Board requested the following items be placed on future agendas:
• Skateboard Park
• Status of a Dog Park
• City driving range
• Outdoor theater
• Gutierrez Park
7. Announcements by Advisory Board Chairman and members - Ms. Wright briefed the board on the Lady
Bird Johnson Bluebonnet seed collection project and asked anyone interested in the project to contact her.
Ms. Higgs asked about the possibility of locating basketball hoops at other locations instead of under the
large pavilion, perhaps in Cutoff Park. Mr. Logan informed her there were some at Ashley Park and a half
court at Woodland Oaks Park and due to Cutoff Park being in the flood zone he would have to check into
whether or not we can place goals there.
8. Announcements by City Staff- The next scheduled board meeting will meet on Apri127, 2009 at 5:30pm
in the Bob Andrews Conference Room, 1400 Schertz Parkway, Bldg.#1.

Mr. Jeffrey Seibert made the motion to adjourn the meeting. Ms. Wright seconded the motion. The vote to
adjourn the meeting was unanimous. The meeting was adjourned at 7:lOpm.
