MINUTES OF SPECIAL WORKSHOP JANUARY 22,2015,6:00 P.M.
1. Call to Order and Establish a Quorum.
Mayor Carpenter called the workshop to order at 6:00 PM. Mayor Carpenter welcomed
those present.
Members present were:
Mayor Michael Carpenter, Schertz
Mayor Mary Dennis, Live Oak
Mayor Lisa Jackson, Cibolo
Mayor John Williams, Universal City
Mayor Tom Daly, Selma
Mayor Pro -Tem Nadine Knaus, Garden Ridge
City Manager Nancy Cane, Garden Ridge
Others Present:
Attorney Chris Young, Linebarger Goggan Blair & Sampson, LLP
2. Discussion regarding the upcoming Legislative Session and establish
A date for members to go to Austin to speak.
Mayor Carpenter introduced Mr. Chris Young, Attorney for Linebarger Goggan Blair &
Sampson, LLP who briefed them regarding the upcoming proposed bills that would
directly affect cities. Mayor Carpenter and members discussed the need to have a joint
meeting with the Guadalupe Regional County Mayors Association to discuss the proposed
bills and see if they as a group want to go to Austin and address the legislature.
Members present discussed the idea of coming up with a date to go to Austin as a group.
Mayor Carpenter mentioned that he has been contacted by Representative Farias' office
and they are willing to coordinate a lunch and secure a meeting room once we have
decided when we will be going.
Mayor Carpenter also mentioned that at the next meeting he will also be inviting the
Guadalupe Regional Mayor's Association to join them in discussions of the 2015
Legislative Session.
3. Adjournment
Mayor Carpenter adjourned the workshop at 8:20 p.m.
