Call to Order and Establish a Quorum. Mayor Williams called the workshop to order at 6:30 p.m., those present introduced themselves. II. Introduction of those present and roll call. Members z)resent were: Mayor Walt Williams, New Berlin Mayor Jeff Hunt, Santa Clara Mayor Larry Thompson, Garden Ridge Mayor Mary Dennis, City of Live Oak Councilmember Joel Hicks, Cibolo Mayor Tom Daly, Selma Mayor John Williams, Universal City Mayor Ralph Gutierrez, Schertz Mayor Victor Contreras, Marion Guests: City Secretary Brenda Dennis, Schertz III. NEW BUSINESS: 1. Discussion and possible action regarding future NEP Regular Meetings. (Mayor Walt Williams) Mayor Walt Williams opened the floor for discussion on having a regular NEP meeting in July. Mayors discussed the logistics of holding the regular NEP meeting at Olympia Hills Golf and Conference Center, practicing social distancing. Mayor Walt Williams stated he had a speaker for the July meeting. Balous Miller, with Bill Miller, will be the speaker. He is seated on the Governor's board of advisors during the COVID -19 pandemic and will share some of his insights of being a part of that board. 6 -4 -2020 Minutes The consensus was to meet again for a regular NEP meeting at Olympia Hills Golf and Conference Center in July of 2020. No motion was made. 2. Economic Development Discussion — Discussion and action on how we help our local businesses. (Mayor Walt Williams) Mayor Walt Williams discussed zeroing out our budget, or at least most of it, since our charter is economic development, to help our businesses that have suffered during the COVID -19 pandemic. Think of ways to generate business and help our citizens. Mayor Walt Williams opened the floor for discussion on how to use NEP funds to help the municipalities and how to make the division of the money available. Many ideas and comments were given. A motion was made by Mayor Tom Daly, seconded by Councilmember Joel Hicks to allow not to exceed $25,000.00 for the collective amount from NEP funds, based on population, to help each municipality's struggling businesses brought on by COVID- 19. The vote was unanimous. 3. Discussion on upcoming NEP Election of Officers. Mayor Mary Dennis suggested the officers in place remain for another year. A motion was made by Mayor Daly and seconded by Mayor John Williams to keep the officers in place for another year. The vote was unanimous. IV. Items of interest by Member cities. Mayor Walt Williams opened the floor for Mayors to state their items of interest in their municipalities. Many of the Mayors shared their updates and opinions ranging from COVID -19 issues, rioting, new developments, remodels, grants, grand openings, Cyber Training, as well as other various topics. V. Establish a Date, Time & Location of the next NEP Workshop Meeting. (Next up is the City of Marion) to host for July 2, 2020. Mayor Walt Williams discussed with City Secretary Brenda Dennis that there would be no Mayor's Workshop in July 2020. Mayor Williams asked Brenda Dennis to send out notification of this cancellation. VI. Review and discussion regarding the Agenda for June 11, 2020 regular meeting. There will be no regular meeting on June 11, 2020. VII.
