LAB 03-04-1991 LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD MINUTES The LAB met in regular session on Monday, March 4, 1991. Members present: Gerald Thurman, Chairman Margaret Riley, Vice Chair Ruth Tienor, Secretary Julie Parr, Treasurer Connie Brison Richard Cervantes Gail Douglas - Librarian Barbara stanhope - City Council Rep. The minutes were presented. seconded. Motion carried. Julie moved they be accepted. Richard The treasurer's report was presented. Connie moved to accept and Margaret seconded. Motion carried. LIBRARIAN'S REPORT Stat s: Total # of Materials Circulated 5035 Total # of Patrons 3270 Total # of Volunteer Hours 229 Materials Requested From Other Sources 57 Mat~ria1s Received From Other Sources. 59 Microfilm Rental Requests 0 Microfilm Rental Received 0 Weekly story Time Attendance 145 Meeting Room Use (Hours) 45 New Cards Issued 135 Total # of Telephone Calls 632 Collection Stats: Adult Titles Young Adult Titles Juvenile Titles Paperbacks Gail - - indicated Mondays are becoming busy which means the public has been wanting the library open that day. - decided to have Amnesty Weeks the first two weeks of March. - plans to buy the Precision One Program by Brodart for the Retro Conversion Proj ect. - will advertise a part time position opening; Lisa left to work full time at Waldenbookf Volunteer, Violet Jasper, will take over story hour through March. - went to TLA Legislative Day with Connie. Rep. Ed Kuempel attended the TLA r&- cEp tion and spent time with them. - held a Volunteer Luncheon on Feb. 18th; has money left in that budget to have a brunch in April for those who couldn't come in February. - was not able to attend the book repair workshop at District 10. - intends to start an employee incentive program after all the hours have been scheduled and a new children's librarian has been hired. June Hughes offered to help with it. . We've picked UP 3-4 good volunteers and the restitution hours will be cut. - was unable to discuss business use of the meeting room with Mr. Sweatt. - hired Carlotte Rawley for 6 months and Mona reported for work after her hospitalizatior 13106 474 4799 5773 Filmstrips 123 Videos 19l Microforms 11217 No Committee Reports. Old Business - - Connie vill write a letter to Marge, thanking her for her service on the board. - American Traditions has the PBK shelving ready. - Book sale vill be the 5th. 6th and 7th. The presale will be Thurs the 4th. Anyone that can should come Thurs. afternoon to set UP for the sale. Margaret had sign up sheets and Connie has the publicity ready to go. - Ruth reported that Sylvia Marbach is unable to join the board for a couple of months. Barbara submitted two other Cibolo residents as possible county reps on the board: GlenAnn Hildebrand and Mark Boland. New Business- _ Gail talked 'With Ada Howard, Seguin librarian, about a joint board meeting with the county board at our meeting in April to coordinate efforts for the library budget presentation to the county. We will hold our regular monthly meeting at at 7 P.M. They will be here at 7:30. Margaret moved we adjourn. Julie seconded.
